Louise Bayliss

While originally from Auckland, I have lived in the Wairarapa since 1998 and farmed with my husband for 18 years before retiring in 2019.

Retirement is a gift, giving me the time and space to learn about the world of art, and to rekindle my joy of painting under the gentle guidance of Jane Sinclair.

I began with acrylics and after 3 years transitioned to oil, an exciting new medium for me.

I have always had a strong feeling for presentation and the harmony and balance of colour within my environment. Experiencing nature's magnificence, through the illumination of the sky, the sea, the mountains, the rivers and the countryside, for me is incredibly moving, and provides an enormous challenge to be able to express this on canvas in a way that might move others.
